Who we are

Ghar Buddy is operated by KK TECH SOLUTIONS PRIVATE LIMITED (“we”, “us”, “our”), a company incorporated in India. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data when you use the Ghar Buddy mobile application, in line with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and applicable Indian law.

1. What personal data we collect

• Account information: your name and phone number used for sign-in (if you choose phone login). You may also use the app without linking a phone number (device-only / anonymous mode).
• Household information: adults/children, dietary preference, cuisine, rice/roti preference, ingredients to avoid, fitness goals, special needs if provided, meals per day, who cooks, and plan language.
• Kitchen inventory data: names, quantities, and dates of food items you add or scan, including photos submitted for AI recognition.
• Recipes and meal plans: recipes you save or import, and meal plans generated or edited in the app.
• Daily plan recipient information: WhatsApp number (and any name) you add so you can share a meal plan — may be a third party such as a cook or family member.
• Device data: device type, OS, and app version for troubleshooting.

2. Why we collect this data

• Operate core features: inventory tracking, expiry cues, recipes, meal plans, restock helpers, and sharing.
• Personalise suggestions based on diet, avoid list, household size, and staple preference.
• Authenticate you and sync data when you sign in.
• Respond to support requests and improve the product.

3. Third-party recipient contacts

If you provide another person’s name or WhatsApp number so you can send a meal plan, you confirm you have their permission. We use that contact only to help deliver the plan you create (for example via WhatsApp / your device’s share sheet). We do not build a separate profile for the recipient unless they register as a user themselves.

4. AI processing and images

When you use Scan, photos you submit are processed by third-party AI services to identify food items and estimate shelf life. Avoid including other people, documents, or unrelated sensitive material in scan photos.

5. Storage, security & service providers

Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure with encrypted transmission and access controls. We use providers for hosting, authentication, AI processing, and (when you use phone login) SMS OTP. Grocery websites you open in-app are subject to those sites’ own policies. We do not sell your personal data.

6. Retention & deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You may delete items in-app, or delete your account from Profile. You can also email us to request deletion. Recipient contacts are removed when you clear them or delete your account.

7. Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you may request access, correction, withdrawal of consent, or erasure of your personal data (subject to legal retention requirements). Contact support@gharbuddy.co.in.

8. Children

Ghar Buddy is not intended for use by individuals under 18. Household composition (e.g. number of children) is a household-level statistic and is not used to profile any child.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. Material changes will be noted in the app or on this page. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
